Professional Transport Care

"We called for a Critical Care Transport for a gentlemen recently out of the Cath Lab, he was very sick and was being transferred to another hospital for his Coronary Arterial Bypass Graft procedure. The crew arrived 10 minutes before expected and sought out the RN in charge of the patient. After a report was given, both nurses went into the room and did a geographical survey of all patient wounds, lines and talked with the patient about his expectations and concerns regarding transport to another hospital. All of the patients questions were thoughtfully answered.

The patient was then placed on the ambulance cot and while the EMT set up the monitor, the nurse continued all the drip medications the patient was on, double checking the dose, concentration and rates with the sending RN. The patient was then asked about his pain level and he denied having any. The ambulance crew then left with the patient, stopping and giving him time to kiss his wife and say good by to his family.

As nurses we greatly appreciate the care and professionalism of this transport crew. It is nice to know that there are nurse oriented transport crews who still adhere to the guiding principles of nursing practice."

Delivering Peace of Mind

I was very nervous about my husband moving so far away from the hospital and our home. The nurse entered the room and immediately introduced himself and the other crew members and thoroughly explained each persons role and how the transfer was going to be completed. It was calming to see how professional they were and how quickly and safely they moved my husband. Thanks again for the job you do.
